D0 LCG integration meeting

General information:

The D0 LCG integration meeting will take place on august, 24 14h up to august, 25 13h.

Participants:

Here is a list of those people who allready registered.

How to reach Wuppertal University:

(Train connection and Bus connection from central station)

Wuppertal's central station ("Hauptbahnhof") is an ICE and IC/EC stop. Trains go frequently and it should be no problem to get a connection. For a schedule look at German Railways.

Busses from central station to university go very frequently (abt. every 10min), for details look at:

http://www.uni-wuppertal.de/service/anreise/uni-oepnv-en.html

Try to get a bus no. 615 to "Remscheid Fr.-Ebert-Platz" or 645 to "Schulzentrum Süd", as they will stop at the university's main entrance ("Universität").

You will need a ticket class "A" (EUR 1,85 each ride - or 4 rides "4er Ticket" EUR 6,10). Tickets are available from machines, single tickets are also available from the bus driver. If bought from machines, don't forget to machine-stamp them inside the bus.

(From/To Airport)

The closest airport is Düsseldorf (DUS). It has regular train connections (assume a 1h ride).

You will need a ticket class "B" (EUR 3,50 each ride - or 4 rides "4er Ticket" EUR 11,35). This ticket includes the ride from Wuppertal central station to university! Tickets are only available from machines (look for those with the VRR_logo signs). Don't forget to machine-stamp your ticket on the track.

For connections look at:

http://www.verwaltung.uni-wuppertal.de/anreise/howtoreach.html

or

Rhein-Ruhr Area Transportation network (choose "Düsseldorf" and "Flughafen Terminal A/B/C" on the one end and "Wuppertal" and "Universität" on the other)

(by car)

Wuppertal is well connected. Details on howto reach us may be found at this link. If you need additional routing directions, try http://www.de.map24.com . The university's address is Gaußstr. 20, 42119 Wuppertal. Parking is avaible free of charge on the Gaußstraße.

Internet Connectivity:

We will arrange Wireless LAN. Most likely the connection will be WEP-encrypted, the password will be given on arrival. If you need cable based access, please let me know!

Video Conference:

We will use ESnet ad-hoc service for video conferencing. This seems to be the easiest way. Connect 82d0wupp to join.

May we ask all speakers connecting via video conference to send us their talks well before the presentation (preferably as PDF), so that can be shown in good quality to the audience?

Food:

There are several services available on campus. Wuppertal's city also has a large variety of pubs and restaurants, especially around the "Laurentius Platz" (look for a pink church). Behind the church there is the "Luisenstraße" with pubs. A map can be found here. If you have any special needs, please let us know ASAP.

We would propose to have a joined dinner on Tuesday evening. Please confirm if you would like to take part, so we can arrange something.

Tourism:

If you plan to stay longer/come earlier, a ride with Wuppertal's suspension line is a must.

Accomodation:

You may try http://www.hrs.de and book a hotel online. Another option maybe the webpages of the city administration (unfortunately only in German). To avoid long rides you should look for something near the central station.

Or contact our secretary Ms. Nihayet Yildirim for assistence in finding a hotel.

Weather:

Look at http://www.wetteronline.de/NRW/Wuppertal.html for an up-to-date forecast.

Money:

There is an ATM right at the University's main entrance.

Anything else / special requests:

In case of any further questions please contact Mr. Torsten Harenberg

If problems occour while being here, contact me under ext. 3521 within University or 439-3521 from outside. On your cellular you have to dial +492024393521.
