PhD and diploma positions for the ATLAS- and D0 experiment

The High Energy Physics group at the University of Wuppertal has openings for two Ph.D. students.

We are participating in the D0 experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron and are making a strong contribution to the pixel detector for the ATLAS experiment at the LHC.

We are looking for students to work in the fields of

  • setting up and developing a GRID computing infrastructure for D0 and ATLAS,
  • development for the ATLAS pixel detector and work on the (opto)electronic readout of the detector,
  • analysis with the D0 data.

We are looking for students with a German diplome or equivalent and an excellent understanding of experimental High Energy physics. The candidates should be enthusiastic to do forefront research and should have very good computing skills.

If working in D0, she or he should be willing to spend a longer period at Fermilab.

The salary will be according to German BAT 2a/2 (i.e. annual salary of approximately 12,500 EUR.
