The Bachelor programs teach the basic knowledge of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering. The graduate should be able to understand the scientific terminology, convert it for technical applications and solve practical problems from all related fields of engineering using scientific methods. |

Structure and Details |
The programs are designed to educate students in modern Information Technology. They offer high level instruction, partly in close cooperation with industry. The large scope enables the student to work in a wide area of engineering. The Master program offers courses on electromagnetic theory, communication theory, data and signal processing, optimization and control and advanced mathematics in order to impart a substantial knowledge of scientific methods applied in Information Technology. The student can choose between the engineering-oriented program Information Science and the mathematics-related program Computing. |

Educational Organization |
The students are assisted in finding their individual approach to learning. Structured plans guide the path through the programs and indicate which courses are related to each other. Support is given individually by mentors, faculty office, international office, etc. The programs are designed to increase specialized knowledge and expertise. Furthermore the programs encourage the development of a personal profile. |

Forms of Assessment |
The individual courses are weighted by credit points according to the international ECTS system and conclude with examinations offered during the course of studies. The Bachelor’s and the MSc thesis, respectively, serve to apply the achieved knowledge to specific tasks. |

Applicants should hold a Bachelor’s or equivalent degree in Information Technology, Computer science, electrical engineering, communication Engineering, physics or equivalent and must show a good previous academic performance as well as an evidence of ability by oral entrance examination. |

Language Requirements |
Foreign language applicants who have not achieved their qualifications at a German-speaking institution will need to show evidence of sufficient command of German by passing the Examination of Proficiency in German for University Admission (DSH), unless they are exempted on grounds established in DSH regulations. Candidates who have achieved the “Sprachdiplom Level II” of the Standing Conference of Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs, the “Zentrale Oberstufenprüfung” or the “Große/Kleine Sprachdiplom” of the Goethe Institute will be exempt from the DSH. The same holds for candidates who have passed the TestDaF (Test of German as a Foreign Language) at level 4 in all sections. This test (http://www.testdaf.de) can be taken in Germany and authorized test centers abroad. The minimum entrance requirement for the DSH examination at Wuppertal is evidence of proficiency equivalent to Intermediate German Language III (Mittelstufe III), of the Goethe Institute. This needs to be documented by presenting your certificate. The DSH test is held twice a year before the semester starts (March/September). The examination fee is €100.

In order to ensure that all students will complete their MSc program within the allotted time, applicants will be carefully selected. The University |
The University of Wuppertal, founded in 1972, is situated in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW), one of the 16 federal states of Germany. It borders on the Netherlands and Belgium in the West. NRW is economically the most significant German state with an outstanding educational and cultural landscape. In NRW Wuppertal is situated close to Düsseldorf and Cologne in a particularly delightful region with wooded hills, meadows, orchards and fields called the “Bergisches Land”. The city of Wuppertal with its 375,000 inhabitants is an interesting mixture of outgoing metropolis and cosy village with a lot of leisure facilities. From any part of the city it is only a 10 minute walk to the nearest park or shady woodland path. The city’s best-known landmark, the Wuppertal suspension monorail (“Schwebebahn”) is one of the world’s safest and most comfortable means of transport. The university with its four campuses covering more than 35 hectares (over 85 acres) offers a diverse range of programs in science, economics and the humanities, as well as educational science, design and architecture. Emphasis is placed on an intensive interaction between all disciplines. The interdisciplinary focus in research and teaching is a direct response to the demands placed on future young professionals. Some 14 000 students from more than 100 countries benefit from high-level academic approaches in teaching, and from the university’s commitment to research and international collaboration, supported by about 290 professors, 370 academic staff and 560 non-academic staff. The university's annual budget amounts to some 121 million Euros. As well as 7 faculties, the university has 5 interdisciplinary centers, 9 university research institutes and 9 affiliated research institutes. The University of Wuppertal is linked to teaching and research resources around the world by a state-of-the-art IT infrastructure. |

Enrolment fee |
No enrolment fees. Students only have to pay a compulsory fee including a socalled “Semesterticket” which entitles the students of Wuppertal University to use local/regional public transport within the “Rhein-Ruhr” network (VRR) throughout the semester. The compulsory fee amounts to less than €150 per semester. |

Accommodation |
There are four on-campus halls of residence with a total capacity of about 1000 places. The rooms are rented unfurnished. You can either live in residence or rent a room/apartment off campus. The housing market in Wuppertal is not too bad. Prices vary between €200 and €250. Questions on accommodation will be answered by the Student Social Services of the University of Wuppertal.
